ONWA Subsidiary Brand Digimarine Showcases the K-Astral Series at the Asia Yacht Expo

Guangzhou’s annual Asia Yacht Expo is considered the region’s premier marine and water-based tourism event; showcasing luxury yachts, the latest innovations in smart voyage technology, and water sports equipment. This year’s event featured over 500 exhibitors and attracted more than 35,000 visitors from around the globe.

Digimarine, a subsidiary brand of ONWA, successfully presented its latest K-Astral Series Vessel Central Control and Management System, highlighting ONWA’s ongoing investment in the development of intelligent marine electronics, integrated vessel systems, and digital onboard solutions.

The DigiMarine booth was extremely well patronised on all three days, with the integrated touch screen K-Astral attracting great interest and positive comments from visitors, including vessel owners and experienced crew members.

Rather than functioning as a traditional standalone chartplotter, the Astral, as a genuine Multi-Function Display system brings together navigation, sensing, monitoring, power management, and safety-related functions into one centralised interface, offering users a truly intuitive and efficient onboard operating experience.

The K-Astral Series available in 8” and 12” screen sizes, centralises access to a wide range of marine equipment, including radar, CHIRP sonar, AIS, GPS/BeiDou positioning, electronic compass, anemometer, autopilot, cameras, and other onboard devices. It also supports multiple chart options, including K-Chart, C-MAP, and Navionics, allowing users to switch between different chart sources according to their preference and navigational requirements.

Additionally, the Astral system can display and manage key vessel data such as engine parameters, battery status, electric propulsion information, and other essential operating conditions on a single screen.

In terms of connectivity, the K-Astral Series supports multiple communication protocols, including NMEA 2000, Modbus, WiFi, Bluetooth, RS-232, and RS-485. This open and expandable architecture enables the system to connect with a variety of onboard devices, helping reduce the complexity of traditional multi-instrument dashboards while improving space utilisation and operational clarity at the helm.

The global launch of the K-Astral Series represents a significant step in ONWA’s ongoing development of integrated marine electronics.

Through Digimarine, ONWA aims to further expand its intelligent vessel product portfolio and provide yacht owners, skippers, and professional marine operators with a highly integrated, practical, and user-friendly digital control environment.

Summarising Digimarine’s AYE participation, Managing Director, Vincent Wong commented:

The Asia Yacht Expo was a terrific success, we were greatly impressed by the quality of the visitors and the interest in our technology. Furthermore, it gives us great confidence and validates our decision to focus on intelligent navigation, onboard data integration, marine sensing, and safety assistance technologies, supporting the transition of vessel operation toward a more connected, efficient, safer and intelligent future.”
